The Juliet® Apple: A Project Centered on Four Men
The Juliet® apple isn’t just an apple—it’s also a wonderful human journey that began with the meeting of four men. Benoît Escande, a nurseryman, breeder, and publisher; Jean-Noël Carles, an arborist; Guilhem Sévérac, a technician at the Vaucluse Chamber of Agriculture; and Jean-Paul Touchard, a sales representative at the launch of the project.
Initially, it was Benoît Escande and Guilhem Sévérac who recognized the potential of the Juliet® apple while observing its first seedlings.
It was in 2001 that the first orchards were planted in our beautiful Provence region. Following that, the association “Les Amis de Juliet®” was created, bringing together the growers…
Juliet® Apple Growers: The First Ambassadors
The “Les Amis de Juliet®” association was founded in 2005 and now includes nearly 200 growers in France’s major fruit-growing regions. The association was established for several reasons:
– To inform as many people as possible about Juliet®
– To expand the Juliet® orchard by producing only apples grown using organic farming methods
– To coordinate the technical management of the Juliet® orchards
At first, there were about ten growers throughout France, but thanks to its many qualities, Juliet® has won over a large number of them.
Juliet® apple growers are the first and best ambassadors for this variety. They are proud to offer you an apple that is 100% organic and 100% French!

As for the Juliet® apple, its production methods are in harmony with the surrounding ecosystems. To obtain the AB certification, Juliet® had to adhere to the following three rules:
– The use of GMOs is prohibited
– No synthetic pesticides or herbicides are used in production
– No synthetic fertilizers or sewage sludge
